Peter Taaffe was appointed to the University of Houston System Board of Regents in 2013 by Governor Rick Perry and will serve through August 31, 2019. For fiscal year 2016-2017, he will serve as vice chair of the Audit and Compliance Committee and a member of the Academic and Student Success and Finance and Administration Committees.
Taaffe is Of Counsel with the Buzbee Law Firm. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, board member of the University of Houston Center for U.S. and Mexican Law Advisory Board, and a former adjunct professor at the University of Houston Law Center. He is a past member of the State Bar of Texas Pro Bono College and the Robert W. Calvert American Inn of Court, a past board member of the University of Houston Law Center Alumni Association, and a founder and past president of the University of Texas Phi Gamma Delta Alumni Advisory Board. He is also a former volunteer for Volunteer Legal Services of Central Texas, Houston Volunteer Lawyers Program, Mobile Loaves and Fishes and the Westlake Youth Basketball Association.
Taaffe received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and a law degree from the UH Law Center. He has also completed 40 hour mediation training at the University of Houston Law Center.
