James H. Greer

James (Jimmy) H. Greer, 91, graduated from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, in 1943. He attended Texas A&M University briefly before entering the United States Naval Reserve in 1944 where he served for two years. Jimmy graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Houston in 1954.


Jimmy has enjoyed a diverse career in commercial construction, banking, real estate development and management. His extensive background in commercial construction includes being a founding Director of Baker Metal Products in Dallas, and founding partner of Haley-Greer from 1979-1995. Jimmy was Chairman of both Shelton W. Greer Company and Vermiculite Products, Inc., from 1985 to 2001.


Jimmy served as a Director of Service Corporation International (1978-2005), Director of AmeriCredit Corp. (1990-2010), Director of Tanknology, Inc. (1988-1998), Director of Cash America, Inc. (1987-1995), and Director of Pinnacle Global Group (1998-2000).


Jimmy’s involvement with numerous local Houston banks include serving as Chairman of Riverway Bank (1984-1988), founder and Chairman of Greenway Bank and Trust (1967-1984), and serving as a founding Director of American National Bank in Corpus Christi (1969-1972).


In addition to the above, his most treasured association is with AJ Foyt Racing, over 67 years and counting.
