Update on UHV Transition from UH Sugar Land and UH System Cinco Ranch

Dear UH-Victoria Faculty and Staff –

As we start a new year, please allow me to personally update and share with you information regarding UH-Victoria’s transition out of the UH Sugar Land campus and the UH System Cinco Ranch facility.

Reports about this move have elicited much interest and some misinformation for the past several months.  Now, I am pleased to share with you that the University of Houston and UHV have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on this matter.

The MOU consists of three critical parts:

  1. All of UHV’s offerings in Fort Bend County will be consolidated in one temporary location beginning the Fall of 2016.  UHV officials are looking into several options to rent a facility at this point.

  2. UH will provide UHV with an agreed-upon fund to cover all of the costs of transition to ensure that UHV is held harmless.

  3. UH System will build a permanent campus in Katy and, once completed, it will be home to all programs from UH and UHV.  At this point, UH System officials are identifying the best site to locate our campus.  UHV will be involved in the design of the new campus

As always, I invite you to send me your thoughts or ideas on this coming move, or any other advice you may want to share with me.

Thank you for all that you do on behalf of your students.  I look forward to seeing you on campus.

With warm regards,

Renu Khator
