Gregory King Appointed to Board of Regents

Dear UH System Faculty and Staff,

I am pleased to announce that today Governor Greg Abbott appointed Gregory C. King to the University of Houston System Board of Regents for a term set to expire on August 31, 2023. Mr. King is replacing former Regent Steve Chazen who passed away suddenly last September, leaving a vacant position on the board. King’s appointment is subject to Senate confirmation.

A proud alum of the University of Houston, King resides in San Antonio and is a managing partner of EnCap Flatrock Midstream (EFM). Prior to joining EFM in 2015, he spent nearly 15 years at Valero Energy, serving in various roles including, president, chief operating officer and general counsel. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, former board chairman of Focus on the Family, emeritus director of the University of Houston Law Foundation, and a former board member of United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County, and the Alamo Area Council Boy Scouts of America. King earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree from The University of Texas at Austin and his juris doctor from The University of Houston Law Center.

I am excited about Mr. King’s appointment and the experience, unique skills and talent he will bring to the UHS Board of Regents. He has been a dedicated supporter of the University of Houston and I look forward to him expanding his expertise, stewardship and passion to the University of Houston System and each system institution.

Sincerely,

Renu Khator
Chancellor, University of Houston System
