Title IX and UHS Sexual Misconduct Policy
UHS Faculty, Staff and Students
The University of Houston System strives to provide an environment that is free from all forms of discrimination, harassment and other unreasonable interference. Although the system promotes freedom of expression, this freedom implies a collective responsibility to observe the rights of others. The system maintains a policy of no tolerance for sexual harassment and sexual violence, regardless of the sexual orientation or gender identity of individuals involved. No tolerance means the UH System will remedy all unwelcome conduct of a sexual nature and will impose serious sanctions on anyone who violates this policy. Resolution by the system is intended to bring an end to harassing or discriminatory conduct, prevent its recurrence and remedy the effects on the complainant and the community.
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 states: "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance."
As a system, the UHS website includes reporting options and many university-specific support resources available to help ensure we handle these matters properly and with respect for all involved.
Anyone can report misconduct and noncompliance anonymously through MySafeCampus or through a campus resource, such as your campus police department or Title IX Coordinator. Every report of sexual misconduct we receive is investigated and handled in accordance with university policy. No member of our community is above this process.
Again, I ask you to say something if you see something.
