Jeanne Clery Act Compliance

THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON SYSTEM CLERY ACT COMPLIANCE

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (The Clery Act) is a consumer protection law that aims to provide transparency around university crime policy and statistics.
The mission of the University of Houston System Clery Compliance Program is to provide each university's community with timely, accurate and complete information about crime and the safety of each university so that community members can make informed decisions regarding their personal safety.
The University of Houston System is composed of four member institutions of higher education.  The University of Houston; The University of Houston - Clear Lake; The University of Houston - Downtown; and the University of Houston - Victoria.

Each member institution provides their community members with an Annual Security and Fire Safety Report, published on or before October 1st of each calendar year.

UHS CLERY COMPLIANCE PROGRAM

The UHS Clery Compliance Program is charged with ensuring each member institution complies with the following Clery Act requirements:

The four categories of CSAs:

  1. Campus police department or a campus security department of an institution;
  2. Any individual or individuals who have responsibility for campus security but who do not constitute a campus police department or a campus security department (e.g., an individual who is responsible for monitoring the entrance into institutional property);
