Patrick J. Fertitta was appointed to the University of Houston System Board of Regents by Governor Greg Abbott in December 2025 and will serve through August 31, 2027. He is Director of Fertitta Entertainment, the parent company of the Houston Rockets, Landry’s, and Golden Nugget Hotels and Casinos, a global enterprise with more than 600 properties and 50,000 employees. In this role, he works across executive teams to drive strategic growth and innovation, while also overseeing both the business and basketball operations of the Houston Rockets. Fertitta represents the Rockets as an alternate Governor on the NBA Board of Governors and was recognized in 2024 on The Athletic’s “NBA 40 Under 40” list as one of the league’s top emerging leaders.
He also serves on the Board of Directors for Space City Home Network and is an active community volunteer with organizations such as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Houston, the Clutch City Foundation, and Houston Children’s Charity. He has helped champion numerous charitable initiatives across Greater Houston through his work with his family and various local organizations. He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business and resides in Houston with his family.
